it is often said that once a couple gets married, another new experience will take place. Frequently, particularly in Singapore, we get married for one reason or another, and somehow a good percentage of it is because of applying for a HDB flat. When a couple is considering a marriage due to whatever reasons, it makes good sense, at least to me, that they should attend a marriage workshop together, to really savour the meaning of a marriage. In real life, things may not be perfect or what a beautifully conceptualised idea it should have been, it does not end up the way we expect them to be. Marriage workshops does offer a preparation of mental readiness so that people can be exposed to a virtual realisation of whats things to come. The concept is similar to that of studying for an examination to make it to the next higher class the following year. Without attending lessons or lecture, we would not know the in and out of a particular subject and if we dont exercise self discipline to ensure we prepare for the exams, the potential risk of failing the exam is definitely higher. The same is for marriage, if you are not ready, dont commit to a life partner because marriage is often not just about a union or a man and woman, it involves friends and families, else, why do people announce their union via a Wedding feast? Marriage workshops is a benefitial consideration to those who wish to commit themselves for life.
