I love diamonds so wouldn\'t be happy with anything else for engagement. I think a simple solitaire is best and round is nice, but whatever the bride wants for a shape is ok. I don\'t think people should go overboard on spending, just whatever they can afford at the time. A larger, more expensive diamond will make a wonderful anniversary gift later in the marriage!

my preference is for a trilogy ring. but it should be those with one big and 2 small diamonds, not those with 3 the same size. The size of each is not that impt but i would prefer a nice setting. Something not too big is ok as long as i get upgrades in the future. =P

Hmm.. I think Solitaire is still nice.. but u might want to consider the oval shape diamond with 3 claw. 0.5 Carat, VVS1 and Grade E will be superb already.
