Bridal Shows - useful or useless?

Bridal Shows - useful or useless?
With all the bridal shows going around this month, are they really useful for wedding prep? Haven\'t seen any with particularly good offers and stuff. Generally, i find that it\'s more of a cheap taste test of the food at the various venues. ANy views?

Re: Bridal Shows - useful or useless?
To some extent, they are useful. For one, bridal show are usually done up to create the atmosphereo of romance and love. It puts the couple in the right mood. It does gives couples somewhere to start with- some ideas and concepts. I attended The Legends Wedding fair on the 7th May 2006. Perhaps some of you also attended. It was great!..There was a showcase of bridal gowns....1 bridal shop there to sell you their packages. On top of that, there was a great spread of high tea...n0t forgetting door gifts!..All for the price of $18 per couple!...You heard it!...Per couple! Anyway, for myself, Bridal shows ( but i\'ve attended 1 so far only! ) gives me and my fiance concepts and ideas for my wedding early next year. It gies us something to work on.

I think bridal shows can be useful to give you ideas of what you might like for dress, decorations, food and so on. Also they\'re good for you to get some ideas of prices and compare elsewhere. On the other hand, they\'re there to sell services. They do things lavishly and it\'s easy to get caught up in the fairy tale they try to create. I would caution to be sure to keep at least one foot planted in reality.
I would agree. But they make
I would agree. But they make for great sources for ideas at the very least. Just go with an open mind and a nice camera. Take lots of snapshots of the decor and ambience. It'll be a great help when you want to decide how to decorate your wedding venue.

If you don't have your hopes
If you don't have your hopes up too high you will find at least a source of inspiration at these shows, but your wedding is your special occasion and a special day that only you can design and plan.
Wedding shows is also an
Wedding shows is also an occasion where bridal boutiques flaunt their latest collections, hotel lavishes their potential guests with decor and food that more often than not, a couple would reconsider twice ot thrice before shying away. To go to a wedding show for free food (even if its along the way) is not a personal favourite of mine simply because its an occasion where we can be exposed to the latest in wedding trend, be it gown designs, hotel service, staff presentation, etc. it all matters a lot. and like what ninikins mention, it is true wedding shows are a source of inspirations that we can transcend the same or similar elements of their idea and apply for our own wedding day and venue selections when the time arrives to do so.
